About Me

Jan Dark BackgroundI’m Jan Schochet, CEO and Founder of Work Vibrant, a coaching, mentoring, content and teaching company that focuses helping women entrepreneurs become THE go-to expert in their field.

I’ve had a lot of experience with businesses, both online and offline. And spent a lot of time studying business owners, especially the Business Masters of the 20th century who owned successful businesses for 30, 40, 50 and even 70 years.  Their experiences, combined with what I’ve learned from current business experts, mostly online, have allowed me to synthesize a lot of ideas together.

Those ideas are the backdrop for Work Vibrant where you can improve your business and business knowledge through my free content (so sign up for the FREE class: 7 Easy Steps to Becoming THE Go-To Expert In Your Field), through group coaching and through one-on-one coaching.

An Interview With Jan Schochet:

How long have you been a business coach/mentor and how did you become an expert in business?

I’ve been a business strategist and coach/mentor for three years.

My business experience is hard-won because I literally grew up in business.  It’s in my DNA.

ALL of my family—my parents, my aunts, uncles, cousins and all their friends owned retail stores in my hometown for generations. I worked in my parents store from the age of five and managed a division of it as an adult.

I ran small businesses of my own and then in 2008, I dived head-long into learning about online marketing—copywriting, web architecture, social media and sales psychology.

I intake at least 5 hours a week of learning audios or videos to stay on top of the latest info and spent even more time than that for the first 2 years of my own education.

You could say I invented and cobbled together my own MBA in online marketing.

Who are your clients?

My clients are women entrepreneurs who want to become THE go-to expert in their field.  And are ready to see results.

They live anywhere. They own online businesses or brick and mortar businesses (I’ve had extensive hands-on experience in both). They might own service businesses.

They feel just a touch of overwhelm, are not sure which of many choices to go for, and they know that action is the only thing that will take them towards their goals rather than away from them.

And they know the accountability of a mentor or coach is invaluable for reaching their dreams for their business.

How are you different from other business coaches?

Because of my deep interest in small business, I actually produced 70 hours of interviews with people aged 80 and older who either owned successful small businesses for 40, 50, even 70 years, and also with the children (in their 80s at interview time) of similar successful business owners from an earlier era.

And I use their vast experience and success strategies and apply them to today’s businesses.

Think about it—who today has such a long run in one business?  If you’re successful for 10 years, it’s considered a long time. But 50 or 60 years? That’s remarkable—they definitely knew how to create success.

Being able to share such secrets of people I knew first-hand is a distinct difference from 99% of business coaches.

In addition, I have been out there working in business for several decades, again a difference from the majority of business coaches.

What kind of personality do you work best with?

I’m lucky enough that I get to hand select my one-on-one coaching/mentoring clients. They’re the ones who do something every day to move closer to where they want to be in business and in life.

I work best with people who are raring to go. They’ve had it with playing small and they have, or want to have, a “no B.S.” attitude about business success.

My favorite clients agree with Tarheels basketball coach, Roy Williams’ challenge to his team, “Find a way!”

What kind of personality or client do you NOT work well with?

People I do not work well with are those who want a magic answer to one-week business success.

A successful business takes work, and my clients do their work. They know it’s not a one-and-done thing. Or an overnight success. It’s not drudgery by any means. Success means you can take the time to laugh. But you must be willing to work to achieve what you want.
